In 1999-2000 my 57 yr mother started mild memory loss. She had diabetes type II/moderate high blood pressure/high cholesterol. In 2003 the family believed? she had Alzheimers. With the presumption the doctor diagnosed Alzheimers hastily. She had an aunt and an uncle that suffered and died from Parkinons in their 90s/80s. There was an rush to judgement Alzheimers and the doctor wanted to place her in the nursing home he managed. I don''t think he knew the family history. She was losing her memory skills from about 2003-2005 fairly rapidly. But she was still very good on her grooming, her speech was intelligible and mostly sensible, her self care and hygiene was good through 2005. In about 2006 (at 64) the family got frustrated with her decline and put her on Zyprexa and she went downhill very quickly, stumbling/shaking/falls. Now she can''t walk and her body is completely stiff, she does not understand much or communicate. Do you think this could have been Parkinsons all along?
