Question

Endometriosis/Yeast Infection

Sent to Health Experts July 23, 2005 11:15 p.m.

Had Endometriosis and had Lyposcopic surgery over two months ago. A month after I was suppose to start my period for the first time I started but the second day I just spotted then stopped again. Was not sure what was going on. about 5 days later I began to notice a bad odor coming from me and black looking blood when I wiped. Then I went to the bathroom and pushed and a old tampon came out(embarrased to even say this) but I could not remember leaving a tampon in. I am 35 years old and never in my life have done this. When they did hte surgery do they put a tampon in me in case I bleed? Since then I had another period but it was also a short one. I am now experiencing a yeast infection(which I don't ever get) the will not go away. Lots of discharge and itching. Can this be a cause or I read somewhere it can be from diabeties that I have and is high right now. I am worried about this. Please help !

Hi

I'm not sure if they would have placed a tampon during or after your surgery, and I can't find any information when I research the net about it.

Women with diabetes are at a higher risk of
contracting vaginal yeast infections. That's because yeast
feeds on sugars called glycogen and glucose.

When the blood sugar is high, not only is more sugar available in body tissue and secretions for food, but the effectiveness of the body's naturally occurring defense is decreased. So the yeast can multiply rapidly and overgrow, causing a yeast infection.

Sounds like a trip to your doctor is in order to check out your symptoms, and be sure that everything else is in order.
