I was no sure about the answer I received about my fasting-glucose test. The insulin and glucose readings were taken at 1 hr and 2 hr. My fasting glucose was 92 and at 1 hr it was 146 but the insulin was near the bottom at 2.04. At 2 hours the glucose was 115 but the insulin was near high at 52. I questioned the response I was given from just answer that everything was perfect and I spent 3 hrs. on the internet trying to confirm that. From what I can see once the glucose is over 140 it is getting into the prediabetes stage and that insulin should peak when the glucose does. I am just trying to understand why I have all the symptoms--numbness, hunger, sick after eating, frequent urination and blurred vision. My glucose in Jan. was 80. If it isn't developing diabetes I want to explain why I have the symptoms. One thing I did see on the internet was 2 phases of insulin and that when problems begin the first phase may not act. Any ideas?

What did your doctor advise after your test results and yes I agree a glucose over 140 can be getting into the pre-diabetes stage. These sympoms can all relate to the issues with diabetes and I do feel futher evaluation with your physician and to keep a journal of fasting levels, levels after eating, morning readings, and evening then take these into your physician and see what they feel is best as they do try to avoid insulin unless necessary. Yes there are two phases so you may be in the first phase but with your fluxuations I would highly recommend further evaluation or a second option but do keep a journal for 5-7 days to give them a good basis to show your fluxuations.

This is a good suggestion and I will talk to an expert. Do you have any understanding of the difference between Diabetes I and II? I tried to read about it, but I don't really understand the mechanism behind it except that type I has loss of insulin. Does it develop in the same manner that phase I insulin can go first? I was exercising, am 5'9" 131 lbs. never eat junk food, drank only a couple drinks of wine (now nothing) and thought I was taking good care of myself, but I do have Celiac Disease and autoimmune thryoiditis. Do you know anything about what type could be developing?
