I tend to have very large, 12-14 inch log bowel movements. They are not hard, I do not suffer from hemerrhoids, but they are painful to push out most of the time. Should I push them out or just let them do their thing? I would love advice from someone who experiences these same gargantuan size bowel movements. Thanks!

Hi

Movements of this magnitude are a common cause for concern - however they are not a sign of any disease/condition and therefore you do not need to worry about them.

What you should not be having is pain - can you tell me some more about it?

Reply to Dr J Burk's Post: What would you like to know? I am an open book. Ask me anything. But first, I was hoping to get advice from someone with first hand experience. Have you experience these gargantuan bowel movements yourself? And what do you do to release them? Sit and them them work themselves out or push them? Thanks for your concern and help in this serious matter.

Oh, okay.......well..the pain is that the bowel movements feel too wide to come out. I have used a mirror to see what my sphincter looks like and it seems very, very small. Maybe this is the problem? Have you experienced rather large bowel movements yourself?
