Hi I am a diabetic with type 2 diabetes and have since developed ckd type 3. I am taking both oral hypoglicaemics and antihypertensives, recently had Candesartan increased to 8mg about 2 weeks ago, creatinine 155, in Sept, increase by 2(157 in Dec,) in 3 months, can I expect this to increase all the time or will the extra Candesartan lower the creatinine thus lowering GFR,and should I anticipate a longer survival.

The recenct literature states that a good -sartan such as candesartan at the appropriate dose can prolong kidney health by an additional 3 years on average. The creatinine bump of 2 is minor. I know from personal experience that you can get this much of a bump by not drinking enough water.

I think with the Candesartan and proper hydration we can presever your kidney health.

Hi Jason when you say that administration of this drug will help maintenance of the health of my kidneys,is there a time limit when I will need an increased dose or perhaps eventual dialysis.

Hi Jason, that was very reassuring, being a qualified nurse,(R.M.N. S.R.N.)and having awareness about health issues, the thought of renal problems is frightening.
I am 64 and had a cabg(double by pass of L desc Coronary artey and o.m. branch of circumflex,in July 2005,(arterial grafts for each one),so I am hoping to gain the benefit of this surgery.

Happy New Year to you.

hi There,If my b/p does not go below 140/80 and the creatinine level does not fall below 150,with the current increase in Candesartan, started approx
2 weeks ago, should I suggest to my G.P.(on Thursday this week), that he increases the Candesartan to 12mg daily or leave the dose to 8mg for another 3-4 weeks when I have a short review for diabetes,at the end of January.

Currently the HbA1c reading in Dec was 7.8mmol which is .1 more than in Sept.this year.
Thank you for any advice

Michael
