Question

Having alittle digestive discomfort, and have been taking ...

Sent to Health Experts February 26 1:49 p.m.

Having alittle digestive discomfort, and have been taking Prilosec for about 6 months (20mg I believe). I don't have indigestion, but have this feeling like my throat and behind my breastbone (inside my upper chest) is irritated. I would like to ask my doctor to look into this further. I've had an Upper GI about a year ago, and was wondering if I should ask for this same test, or if an endoscopy would be a better test to request. Thanks.

Optional Information:
Male, Age: 47, Pennsylvania

Already Tried:
I have tried Prevacid, and currently on Prilosec (20MG). I don't have any heartburn now, but sometimes at night. I try to have an empty stomach (nothing for three hours - except water) before bed. Sometimes when I'm eating to fast, and swallowing it feels alittle hard, which eases as I take a drink of something (water, soda). This is not the case with a glass of wine though, I will sometimes feel a burning sensation down my throat, when I first take a sip of wine (I don't over drink), just a glass with dinner. Thanks

An endoscopy would let the doctor evaluate you better in that everything could be visualized.

Also if anything is seen during the test it can be biopsed.

Thanks, would my family Doctor do this, or would they recommend me to a specialist (like a gastro specialist)? Thanks
