Throat Problem From Excessive Heartburn

when you have very bad heartburn for years enough so that you were popping antacids right and left and actually drinking bottles of mylanta, does the heartburn tare up your throat muscles? I feel like there is a lump in my throat and I can only swallow better if I take digestive enzymes. If this happens, what can I do about it naturally or medically?
