This is usually a sign of an injury or disorder of the digestive tract, it can originate anywhere in the digestive tract from the mouth to the anis. Black stools indicate bleeding in the upper GI tract, bright or red blood usually indicated bleeding in the lower GI tract. It is best to have a fecal stool occult test done but to make a deficate diagnosis they usually suggest x-rays or and endoscopy. I have a link with even more helpful information concerning this symptoms and its causes, treatments, and home care that I feel will be of help to you and if you have any further qiuestions please feel free to ask.
