I returned from a 18 day mission trip in Jamaica 6/1/06. My 8th or 9th day there I began feeling very tired we had been working hard, I also noticed a very light rash to my arms only, didn't itch or burn, just bumps I could feel when I touched my arms. I began having light episodes of diarrhea and a dry cough that was very disturbing I lost my voice, my throat wasn't sore, just nonproductive cough and laryngitis. I felt some congestion in my chest but it wasn't moving at all. This continued through the remainder of my trip. The Monday after I returned home I went to my Dr, he said I just had laryngitis no big deal. gave me a shot of a steroid and sent me home. In about 2 hours I had a fever of 104 which I treated for the week with tylenol and advile. The fever is now better just about 99 the aches and discomfort is less. I still have diarrhea can't eat much, still can't talk. Sometimes I don't make it to the bathroom in time. Im afraid to take antidiarrheal meds b/c possiable e-coli or such infection. Im not sure what I might have gotten in Jamaica. I am concerned about what I might be subjecting my family here to. Ive looked on the internet and the closest thing I can find to my symptoms is Typhoid Fever. Thats pretty scary. Can you offer any help here on what I should do next.
