Hi,

Thank you for asking your question on Just Answer. Swanson's Joint Care with the ingredients you mentioned above should have no side effects at all. It should not interfere with Synthyroid or Apple Cider Vinegar tablets either. There is a bit of controversy about the effectiveness of Glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM because once the compounds have gone through the digestive system, there is virtually no appreciable amount left to get "to the joints". But, there is much anecdotal evidence to support it's use. Many people find it helpful. It is a "do no harm" kind of product and it should not cause you any difficulty to try it and see if it helps you. It may take about 3-4 weeks before you notice a difference.

Good luck! Please let me know if you need more information.

Hi,

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your feet swelling. I know this can be quite uncomfortable. It is common in older adults for their hands and feet to swell after sitting and standing for a long time in a hot environment. This is called "heat edema". Heat causes your vessels to expand and then the body fluid moves into the hands and feet by gravity. Since you have other issues going on like thyroid issues, this can put you at increased risk for this disease. Your salt intake can have a major effect on your risk for heat edema as well.

The other concern would be that of a cardiovascular problem. People with heart failure can have increased limb edema. If you are having any difficulty breathing or exercise intolerance, a cough or other respiratory symptoms, please see your doctor immediately.

For now, watch your salt intake closely. Avoid standing or sitting for long periods of time. Exercise if your doctor has ok'd this for you. If it doesn't resolve, you may need to get some prescription diuretics to help with the edema.

Good luck!
