My mother has a sharp pain in her left chest that does not ...

My mother has a sharp pain in her left chest that does not go away with changing position. It does not increase of decrease with breathing. She has no other symptoms. No shortness of breath or upset stomach. She has had the same sharp pain for several hours. She has taken a dose of mylanta and an asprin.
