Hello,

Your main problem her is constipation. Because you are constipated, the stool in the rectum is preventing all the gas from passing out. Production of gas from th e stagnant food will also be more. Deep penetration during sex would also hit against the loaded rectum and casue pain.

To decrease constipation:

- Drink at least 8 - 10 glasses of water daily.

- Increase the amount of fibre in your diet by taking lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.

- Exercise regularly - this will help in increased movement of the intestines and regular bowel movements.

- Take a stool softener called Colace to soften the stool and make the passage easier.

- Take a digestive enzyme preparation to decrease gas production.

- If you have not passed any stool for more than 3 days, you can use a glycerine suppository - you will need to insert the suppository into the rectum.

I hope this helps.

Thank you very much. My Father passed away this last month and I have felt quite stressed. I have never experienced constipation until this last few weeks. I drink the amount of water you suggested on a daily basis and also exercise however I do need more fiber and the stool softner should help. I get some horrible cramping with this as well. Not all the time but occasionaly and at times just very uncomfortable.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear about your father. Perhaps the stress and emotional upset you are going through has contributed to your constipation.

Cramps are common in constipation as the intestines contract in an attempt at push out the stool. But it will better not to take any painkillers at this time if you are trying to conceive. All painkillers decrease the level of prostaglandin in the body - and prostaglandins are needed during the process of ovulation.

The constipation and gas should create no problems in conception.

I hope this helps.
