My 6 month old has vomited and it is blood stained,

My 6 month old has vomited and it is blood stained, like a coffee spill, is this something serious or just a reflux thing, i have not got sore nipples and he is otherwise well. Recently he had a suffocating incident and chocked on his own vomit, he was checked and released from hospital with no concerns.

Is your son on breast milk exclusively? Has your infant been sick with anything else like a cold? Has he been diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux? How many days ago was he evaluated in the hospital? Do you know if they stuck a tube down though his nose and into his stomach for any reason? Most blood stained vomiting in infants and children comes from swallowed blood, and this would be my first best guess at this point. I need to talk further with you about it before giving a thorough answer.
