Your son may have a stomach virus or a flu like virus. Keeping him well hydrated is a good idea, but try to stay away from sodas, sugary drinks like kool-aid, or milk. If he is not having other severe abdominal pain, try giving him an anti-nausea such as pepto bismol. Also, try to have him sip liquids slowly as opposed to drinking glasses of water at a time. The headache is most likely caused by the vomiting, it takes a lot of tension in the body and head area to vomit. Or, it could be related to whatever virus he happens to be fighting at the time. There is no specific need to bring him to a doctor or the ER unless he develops worse symptoms or a fever higher than 102. As far as food goes, follow the BRAT diet for no more than two days, as it is lacking in many nutrients. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. That's BRAT. It is less irritating to the digestive tract, and easier to keep down. At least this way he can try to keep some sustanence in his body. If, after a couple of days, or by the end of tomorrow, if he still cannot keep many things down, you may need to bring him to the doctor if only to get a prescription strength anti nausea medication and have blood tests run. Most stomach viruses only last a day or two and flu like symptoms most often go away within two to three days, although congestion and headache can last for a couple weeks.
