1- You begin opening your lips and putting the snicker into your mouth ,your teeth will cut the snicker into small pieces beginning the mastication process and your salivary glands will produce saliva wetting the food pieces and form ,what we call the bolus . 2- After this you will swallow the bolus ( deglutition ) and the bolus will pass to the oropharynx ,the epiglottis will prevent that the food passes to the layngopharynx , and will redirect the bolus to the hypopharynx . The nasopharynx is behind the nose and does not have any participation in the digestive process. 3- From the hypopharynx , the food will pass to the esophagus , and through the lower esophageal sphincter to the stomach . The esophageal walls will move the food downwards through peristalsis ( esophageal wall muscle contractions ) . 4- From the esophagus , the food will pass to the first portion of the stomach (cardia) ,to the second portion (body) ,third portion (fundus ) and last portion (pylorus ) . The gastric juices will create an optimal pH nd the pepsin enzyme will begin to break down the proteins . 5-From the stomach , the food will pass to the small intestines , to the first segments called duodenum and jejunum . In this area , the bile , all together with the pancreas amylase ,trypsin, lipase will break down completely the food to the smallest particles . 6- These substances will be ready for the absorption process , the fats will pass to the lymph vessels , while the glucose and proteins will pass to the blood directly and from there to the portal vein , that will carry the nutrients to the liver . The liver will remove the toxins from these nutrients , and from there, they will travel through the blood to every part of your body . If you like the answer, please click accept . A bonus will always be sincerely appreciated.
