how to help with flashburn?

a friend was working on a car that needed welding, he didnt have the proper eyegear so he wore sunglasses instead, now we believe he has flashburn , his eyes are red and burning and sensitive to light, is there any home treatment to help minizime the pain till he can see a doctor?

a neighbor said to put potatos on his eyes will this help?? a home remedy would be greatly appreciated.
