Question

Loosing Breath./Blue lips...

Sent to Health Experts July 26, 2005 9:45 a.m.

My grandson is now 21 months old. I babysit quite frequently. He was about 12-15mos, when I had him in my car,we were driving home, and he cried continuosly,to the point that he stopped breathing. He is now 21mos.and this (breathing problelm ) is getting worst. Infact,it just happened four days ago,and his mother was here with me to see just what happened. My grandson at this time, tripped over my foot, caught himself with his hands, and then started to cry. He cried for a short period of time, when I noticed he was not breathing.I picked him up and held him, then his mother took him. That's when I saw his lips were blue, and his eyes opened, then closed. He was like this for a matter of maybe two minutes. When he snapped out of it,he reached out to me.That's when I just held him and cried.(I'm the grandma, but I watch and care for him about 80% of the time.I talked to my son and daughter-in-law,and they said they would contact his doctor. This has happened on several occasions, according to both my grandson's parents, and I am deeply concerned, only because my second oldest son is epiliptic, and my grandson's mother had seizure problems in her younger days. Please advise what should be done. Thankyou, Very concerned Grandmother

P.S. My son lets him cry,to the point that he does
lose his breath, he tells me,that the baby(Jacob)
does it because he wants his own way,or because he
is mad. All this scares me,knowing when a child's
lips turn blue and the eyes roll back, only leads me to believe that there is something really wrong. With the history in my family, and my daughter-in-laws,as far as seizures, should be enough reason for my grandson to be checked out.

Thankyou,
Desparate to know....
