Limping Condition

A have a son age 3-1/2 who suddenly started limping. He doesn't complain of pain, there is no swelling and no history of any injury. The limp is at it's worse when he wakes up and x-rays show no fractures. The limp seems to be a lack of motor function, not a limp induced by pain. Do you have any information on such a condition?
