The only other thing I can think of would be an ulcer, or H.Pylori. It's a fungus in the gut that causes a lot of troubles.

Here's a link:

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Perhaps another specialist will have some ideas for you.

Wish her the best!

I just had another great idea, thanks to another specialist who put a bug in my ear. :) (thanks steve)

Has your mother in law tried letting her belly have a rest for a few days? If she's diabetic this wouldn't work, and I'd clear it with her doctor first.

Say she goes to clear fluids and jello for a couple days. Weak tea, water, diluted fruit juices, jello, broth. etc.

This would give her gut a rest, if it is irritated, and allow some healing to take place.

With little ones we then move to the B.R.A.T diet......slowly adding Banana, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast. If that is tolerated, more foods are reintroduced as tolerated, and if not tolerated, back to the last thing that was tolerated for a few days again before moving on.

What do you think?

Okay, I'll give this one last try.

Perhaps she has a fistula. It's a hole or tunnel between the bowels and the vagina. What she may be draining is mucus and stool. That would most definitely irritate the vagnial and urethral mucosa.

Sorry I'm not being more help,

Kerry

dont know if you have ever tried this, but try going to a natural doctor instead of the normal western doctor. They look at your body as a whole and perform evaluations of disease without all the tests they perform nowadays. They find the root of the problem and work from there. Trust me on this one, my sister is diabetic and ever since she started going to an ayurvedic doctor, her blood sugar levels have been perfect. Good luck and have a great night!

First, let's review the few certainties regarding your mother-in-law's condition:

For the last two years, eating anything other than yams, pumpkin, yucca, and potatoes causes her to have a discharge from her urethra along with swelling and a painful vagina.

Gastrointestinal and gallbladder causes have been ruled out.

Now, it seems to me, that it's time to explore two areas:

1.) Find out what may have happened to your mother-in-law, or in her life, two years ago which may have brought on the symptoms? Did she have any kind of acute illness? Was there some kind of loss, or some other event causing stress?

2.) Have a pharmacist, or her doctor review every prescription medication, over-the-counter medication, supplement, and vitamin which her mother-in-law takes. Special attention should be given to looking for any single item or combination of items which are known to cause urinary tract irritation.

If medically feasible, it may be a good idea to have your mother-in-law taken off all medications to see if this makes any difference in her symptoms. If her symptoms do disappear after stopping medications -- they can be reintroduced one-by-one in order to see which ones(s) is causing the problem.

3.) Talk to (get a referral from your mother-in-law's Doctor, if necessary) a registered dietitian, or clinical nutritionist, or food chemist -- some kind of professional who can tell you what the common factors are between the four foods which do not cause your mother-in-law's symptoms. What sets these four foods apart from virtually every other type of food? Knowing what these four foods do not contain (or do not do to the body) may provide some clues as to why most other foods are causing the symptoms. This, in turn, may lead to the root cause -- and appropriate treatment.

Let me know if you need more input. If not, thanks for the opportunity to assist you... I would really appreciate your honoring my efforts by 'pushing the button' and Accepting this answer. Adding a bonus -- should you wish to do so -- is always warmly welcomed.

Good Luck!

Steve
