Question

9 month old with pea size lump in head

Sent to Health Experts August 24, 2005 11:43 a.m.

My 9 month old has a small pea size lump on the back of his head near his neck. Our ped said that it was swollen lymph node but it has gotten bigger and has been there for 2 months. Is he right?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Yes, it sounds like a lymph node. Sometimes it takes awhile for them to go away. If it does't seem to bother him, I would keep an eye on it. If it seems to open up, or get quite a bit larger, certainly give the doctor a call. Otherwise, at his next well baby check up, bring it up again to the doctor.

Hope that helps,
Kerry
