Question

doctor bumps discharge herpes

Sent to Health Experts September 17, 2005 11:27 p.m.

I think I may have a sexually transmitted disease or some form of vaginitis. I am worried that it may be herpes. There is swelling, itching, burning and a white creamy discharge. I see no bumps or lesions, but there is a small area of bleeding. This was caused when I scratched the area. The skin around the hairline seems kind of hard and not smooth. Could this be a form of the bumps? I intend on going to a doctor for a test as soon as I can, but please help.

From your description you may have either a yeast infection or vaginitis

Yeast infection symptoms:

  • Abnormal vaginal discharge
    • Ranges from a slightly watery, white discharge to a thick, white, chunky discharge (like cottage cheese)
  • Vaginal and labial itching, burning
  • Redness and/or inflammation of the vulvar skin
  • Pain with intercourse
  • Urination, painful
  • You can read more about a yeast infection here:

    Or possible vaginitis:

What are the symptoms of vaginitis? Trichomonas vaginalis can be present without any symptoms at all. The most common symptom observed by women is an abounding amount of discharge. This discharge ranges in color from white to yellowish to greenish. When it comes in contact with the vulva, the discharge can cause irritation making the vulva sore and itchy. When urine comes in contact with the irritated area, the patient may experience pain or burning. Painful intercourse and abdominal pain are also possible symptoms.
