Hello, my name is Alicia and I am 25 years old. I have been having a feeling of an irregular heart beat for the past couple of weeks. On Monday I went to my regular Doctor and told him what was going on. When he listened to my heart he said that it sounded like a heart murmur and he did a EKG. He showed me on my EKG what I was feeling. And he said I needed to see a Cardiologist for a echogram ASAP. I went to the Cardiologist today and they did a echogram on me. The Doctor came in and said that I had a small leek and it was causing blood to flow through whcich caused the other heart beat that I was feeling. He said that it was normal with some people, and that he would hook me up to a 24 monitor system. I am wearing it now and I am to take it back tommorow. He made it seem like nothing was wrong and that a lot of people have this problem. But why am I just now feeling it? Why is a leek normal? I am very confused and left confused. I need help understanding what he said. Should I get a second opinion? And what exactly is a leek in your heart?
