You have these symptoms because the stone is still present in your system, it doesn't have to be moving to cause pain and frequent urge to urinate. I suggest consuming alot of water to help and try to flush the kidney stone out. Some stones do not pass, they move into an area that causes less pain and may re-occur at a later time. Some require surgery for removal. I suggest that if the pain grows worse or continues into tomorrow that you may want to think about being seen again if the stone is not moving into an area of less pain or has not been passed. I hope this information will help you.

Ok, other experts view questions and we have several M.D's that sign on and answer as well. For a tip if you are looking specifically for an answer from an M.D. include that in your original question as well so only they will reply. Much luck to you.

You are very welcome dear, even though I am not an M.D. i am very knowledgeable about this subject but can understand you wanting an M.D to respond if you feel more comfortable this way. I hope you get a response, being a sufferer from several kidney stones myself, I know how confusing and painful they can be, alot of people think if they arn't moving it shouldn't hurt but it depends on where the stone is located as to the level of pain it can cause. Until an M.D. responds your best bet it fluids to help try to flush this stone and make it more likely that you will pass it. I hope this helps you. And much good luck to you.

Customer (name blocked for privacy),

Since your are still online and a Medical Doctor has not responded -- I thought I would go ahead and provide you with some reference information related to your question.

According to this reference: about 80% sign of kidney stones -- measuring 5 mm or less -- pass from the body, within 48 hours, without treatment, other than drinking plenty of fluids to help flush the stone out. One recommendation is to urinate through a strainer in order to confirm the passing of the stone. Sometimes doctors can tell why I stone developed by examining it -- which can lead to strategies for preventing future stones.

The pain you're experiencing is Nephritis (inflammation of the kidney) which is a common symptom of having a kidney stone. The nephritis also accounts for the lethargy and urinary frequency you are feeling.

Your normal over-the-counter pain reliever will probably handle the pain of a small kidney stone.

Click the above links for additional information.

Of course, seek medical treatment if your symptoms worsen or if the stone does not pass within 48 hours, or so.

Let me know if you need more input. If not, thanks for the opportunity to assist you... Please honor my efforts by pushing the green 'Accept' button (located within this post -- above-right). Adding a bonus -- should you wish to do so -- would be warmly welcomed.

Good Luck!

Steve
