normal hemoglobin count is between 14 and 18 g/dL; for women.
Pernicious anemia is usually treated with vitamin B-12 injections rather than iron pills.

You may feel better with the iron pills over time, but you might if you didn't take them too. The best bet would be to ask the doctor if you can start getting these shots. It is only one a month. You will be able to tell real quick if that's the cause because of how fast you will have energy and feel better.
The low hemoglobin of 3.7 was not related to pernicious anemia. That is a really low count! And, the iron pills would help that kind of anemia.
It would be worth bringing these things up to your doctor and see what exactly is going on now, and if either B-12 shots, iron pills, or both would indeed help you.
