For a hairline fracture some choose to splint it or cast it depending on the severity and area of the hand. It must stay in a state of stability until it heals. You might want to consider an orthopedic doctor as if it does not heal correctly it can cause further problems down the road. Others choose to use a brace as constant force on the area of the fracture will possibly cause a break.
