I am a nail technician. Yesterday I discovered I have a pea sized hard lump at the base of my middle finger of my left hand on the inside. It is a little tender. It is not visible. One of the girls at work said it could be a calcium deposit. What do you think, and if it is a calcium deposit, can I break it up by massaging it?

Dear Cactus,

Hummm, with your job I wam wondering if you don't rest you hand on the edge of the table, on that spot.

Here are some possiablities. Vascular anomalies, ganglions, mucous cysts, and giant cell tumors of the tendon sheath of the hand.

Apply some kind of bandage, to keep pressure off this area, to remind you your pressing on it.

You should see your Doctor if this doesn't resolve.

I would say DO NOT massage it. You don't know what it actually is.

I hope this is helpful. Good luck, If you need anything just ask me.

Reply to Cynd's Post: I don't rest this hand on the edge of the table...I am left handed so it's the hand I use.
