i just got bad hemeroid after straining during bowel

I just got bad hemeroid after straining during bowel movement. It was swelled and sore but not bleeding.
After cleansing area and applying OTC ointment it began to bleed and has gotten much smaller and bleeding has subsided somewhat. Is the bleeding after they break open and will it heal on its own if I am careful not
to strain? Visiting the doctor is not feasible for me
at this time. Thank You so much. Toni
