Thank you so much for the bonus...but I truely feel that you should have this checked out by a doctor. I'm sure that an EEG would show the brain activity during an episode and be easily diagnosed. Remember that a seizure does not have to be accompanied by a physical response.
I have a sister whom has suffered with seizures all her life...and the colors and temperature sensations that you descrbe sound familiar. There could also be some other physiolgical trigger for the episodes.
Extreme bouts of Anxiety or panic attacks may be the cause, or a sleep disorder could be associated, but you will need to be evaluated by a hands on physisian to get a better idea of what's truely going on here. Either physical or mental...the deppressive tendencies you descibed can result.
I mentioned the VA because you are a vet...but if this condition was pre-existing...you may have to visit your personal doctor to have tests done. From the sound of your descriptions, you are experiencing disruptions in your life from these episodes and would greatly benifit from treatment. Your local chapter of VVA will still be valuable to you as well, in coping with the readjustment to civillian life and all other issues related to being a veteran.
Below, I have posted a website that tells about different seziure disorders so you can read more about it. You can also search the site for info on sleep disorders and other possibilities.
