i have a rather small hard lump under my skin on my left thigh. i am able to move it back and forth a little. is this a tumor? should i be scared?

tumor is an abnormal growth of cells that can be benign or malignant. In other words not all tumors are bad. Lipoma is a common fatty tumor that occurs as you describe. If the lesion is hard but movable and just under the skin you may have a cyst. Lesions are more worrisome when they are fixed (not movable) - have this checked by a doctor to confirm that it is begign.
