My thumb on my left hand is swollen and I can not move
Sent to Health Experts January 24 07:53 PM

My thumb on my left hand is swollen and I can not move it. It is red and hot to the touch from the area of my thumb down to
the wrist. The rest of my hand/fingers is normal. There are no puncture wounds (to indicate a bite). I was examined and my hand x-rayed at a walk in clinic. The doctor said my thumb looks sprained and this is likely from an old injury, I may have had as a young child, that is flaring up. I have never had any instance like this before. I have been sick with the flu for four days and have not done anything that would have injured the thumb. Their advice was to take motrin. There has been no improvement in over 24 hours. What should I do?
