why would a woman have two periods in a months time?

well i have had two periods for about three months now like this month i started on the first of january and ended on the eight of january and i started again on the 22 and i'm still on i don't know what to do i had my tubes tied 4 years ago and sence then i have not been regular i have been keeping track the last few months and it's kind of scary to think something is serceriously wrong.thanks for everything
