I have a blot clot in my leg and I am on warfarin. I can not get a clear answer from my doctor on how things will develop as he treats this. My leg is swelled up and gets worse each day.
My feet are so swelled up that the skin is drawn tight. I have dark brown spots appearing on my leg and several large areas of dark brown on my feet, behind the knee and at the top of my leg. My questions is can you give me an overview of how things will develop and what I will feel and see in my leg as I am healing? Just how swelled up will my leg get and how much discoloration will occur? Are these dark brown spots blood leaking into my leg from broken blood vessels? How much damage is happening to my leg?

Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy),
You were put on warfarin to dissolve the blood clot in your leg.It suppose to bring the swelling and redness down ,relieve the pain gradually while dissolving the blood clot. The dark brown spots you are talking about possibly transformation of te bruises to dark spots .People who are on the blood thinner bruises easily. It is also possible that you have chronic venous insufficiency and this dark brown spots so called stasis pigmentation are coming from that condition. Please clic the link below to read more above the blood clot or deep venous thrombosis of the leg.
