I am a 23 year old African-American female. I returned from a 12-month tour in Iraq a few weeks ago. For the past week (especially last night), I've been experiencing stomach cramps, similar to mentral cycle cramps yet I am not on my cycle. Last night, the pain was so sharp and intense I couldn't sleep. I tend to stress a lot and was wondering if this could be a sign of an ulcer??

Dear Alisa.g.vaughn,

An ulser will give you sharp pains right below your rib cage like you are hungry, Some times the pain can be slight which can make you believe you are hungry, I suffered from ulsers when I was a teenager and I know that pain real well. If you do have an ulser aspirin is not the right than to take. It will make it more sore. The best thing to take is Maalox or others, a doctor would need to be seen to check the severity of it. If it is bleeding you will need to been quick. Mine was bleeding and the doctor stated that if i didnt see him as quick as I did I would have bleed to death because it was sever.Your doctor may give you Tagiment and I believe they now have an over the counter one as well. If it continues please see a doctor.
