I had a miscarriage last year around this time and am once agian pregnant. I had sex two days ago and bled for about one day, I went to the doctor today and had a transvaginal ultrasound but she said there was no sac to be seen. My last period was January 10 and I was wondering how far along should a sac be detected? Is it normal not to see the sac at 5 weeks because they said today I was 5weeks and 1day? Please get back to me soon I am very worried!!!
Thanks Kate

At 5 weeks 1 day by dates it is one of those gray-area times where you might see something in the sac and you might not. Since most people don't know the day they got pregnant, the dates could be days off.

I'm hoping your doctor has scheduled another ultrasound in a week or two. You should know more by then.
