hi i have been off work with machanical back pain for just under 8 months. i have been to the health and business doctor just over a month ago and he asked me how i felt on returning to work to do a few hours aweek on light duties.i work in a motor manufators building engines so my normal duties cannot be done. i have been going to physio and to hospital to a back pain glass to deal with the pain .the health and business doctor asked work for me to return do to a few hours aweek . i had a phone call from work asking me to return to work to do my normal 7. half hours and to start doing shift work i.e days nights and afternoons. only a few days ago i slipped outside on my front door step and now have injured my back even more. i rang work to tell them this and they said to stil retun to work. i went to my gp and he saw the stress i was in. he then put me on a course of tablets called diazapam. which relax s brain stimulation and muscles.plus to help deal with the pain . i have had my back problem for over a year now . what rights do i have on not returning back to work till i am fit again. plus can they sack me for not returning to work when the health and business doctor states im fit for light duties.please get in touch asap as im worried about my future and health.
