About two years ago, I went to a gastroenternologist b/c I was having problems with my stomach. Here are issues I am having:

-Gnawing, burning sensation between the area of my sternum and belly button
-Gas
-Belching
-Diarrhea

The doctor did an endoscopy and diagnosed me as having gastritis, inflammation of the stomach lining. He put me on protonix for 3 months. I didn't have one problem with my stomach for those 3 months. After I finished taking my 3 month prescription of protonix, I went for 1 1/2 years with the occasional stomach issue.

After those 1 1/2 years the issues listed above started to happen again a lot more frequently. I took tums, pepcid AC and any other anti-acid medicine. It got to the point where they really didn't help so I went back to the same doctor and he put me on protonix again for 3 months. As before I didn't have any issues with my stomach for 3 months. I've been off the protonix now for a week and I've had diarrhea twice and the burning sensation has occurred everyday since I went off the protonix. I know the issue is that my stomach produces to much acid and it causes all of the above symptoms. I know this b/c I have been on protonix two separate times and I didn't have one issue with my stomach while on the medication. Any ideas as to why my stomach produces so much acid? I'm going to the same doctor tomorrow and is there anything I should suggest to him or anything else I need to point out????

It has gotten to the point that whenever I eat or drink just about anything it causes the burning sensation, the belching and sometimes diarrhea. If I eat anything greasy or fatty then the burning starts, and then the belching and gas, and then I get diarrhea. It is the same cycle every time. Please help me!!!!!!
