My son has had a severe cold for about a week. A doctor checked him today and said it has to work its way thru. But he has these weird instances where I can't help him. He says he sees everything like it is very far away and yet it is not. It scares him, he grabs his head and crys. I feel so hopeless. He gets mad and is uncontrollable. Help!

That "far away" feeling can be caused from sinus congestion. It can cause visual disturbances. If the cold treatments you are giving him have pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) in them, it should help with the congestion. You can find children's preps over-the-counter and dose as directed. Also, increase those fluids.
