They are looking for what type of bacteria is present in the culture.

lindie thanks for your answer ,but i was looking for a little more detailed answer. such as just what sort of bac. or causes that they might find.
how far of range does it cover,or what does it rule out .not trying to be hard to get along with just courious.

Each lab is different Hun.. You doctor is the one who writes the lab order up asking for whatever specifics he is asking for. (which I can't comment on what he had ordered) Generally it would be to determine what bacteria is in the specimen they received. Most common bacteria in patients with a healthy immune system are GABHS (Streptococcus pyogenes) and S aureus.

Your doctor should have listed if this was possibly due to a puncture wound, skin abrasion, bite wound etc.. from there they know how to determine and what to test for to find out the bacteria involved. Your doctor may note a visual finding on the submitted report as well. If a blood sample was taken as well, then all 3 evaluations would give the end results. So there are a lot of variables here..

thank you for your help and your answers hope i didnt take up to much of your time.but it seems that it that it is acase of of over charged and under informed on my part ,but if you dont know you dont know.all i was told was that if they found anything i would be notified ,if not then forget about it . so alls well that ends well. i do acept your answer.thanks again.
