hemroids
Sent to Health Experts March 16 11:57 PM

I am a 36 year old white male and I believe I have hemroids. I eat oat meal almost everyday as well as fresh fruit and I am not constipated. I am gay and practice anal sex.    They started about six years ago and have recently gotten worse. My sex life hasn't changed in this time, in fact if any thing it has gone down hill. Other than avoiding anal sex what can I do to get rid of these things.

Some things that can cause is this include. Inadequate intake of fiber, sitting too long, straining to have a bowel movement. Hard stools.

If you are not 100% sure it is hemorrhoid related, it could also be anal fissures which cause pain as well. I will give you some links below to help you understand more about hemorrhoids. But I would see your doctor as well, especially since it's been 6 years. Anal sex doesn't cause hemorrhoids, but if you have them, it can irritate them.

Below are two excellent sites that explain about Hemorrhoids as well and what can cause and treatment along with prevention.

Reply to Lindie's Post: There is a swollen lump around the anus, I haven't had a solid stool in months and I do not have to stain for a bowel movement. I am never sitting for more than an hour before I get up and move around. In the last six years they have not been constant they seem to come and go. However this last case has been with me for about three weeks

This is very odd to have them come about from what all you have said, is all the things that would NOT give or cause hemorrhoid flare ups. Have you taken a mirror to confirm it's a hemorrhoid? If you are sure, then you are doing the correct things to avoid this. Other than applying creams and/or pads to help with the swelling to go down. That would be the only thing at this point is to get the swelling to go down. Other wise you may need to have it surgically removed. Now it can take 3-6 weeks if it's big enough for it will go down. Just odd though, since you are doing nothing that would cause it to flare up. Another possibility may be an anal fistula. Try the OTC creams and see if this will help the swelling to go down, if there is no change, I would see your doctor then. As far as the rest, you're doing it already, which is a good thing :)
