I am very concerned about something that just appeared

I am very concerned about something that just appeared yesturday. It is a pea sized ball shaped knot that is under my skin near my vaginal area that is very sore. Should I be concerned? I have had this problem before but it was much smaller and not as painful. It went away in about a week.
