hi Mike, I check the on-line PDR and do not see anything that would indicate that taking Phentermine to lose weight, would agitate or stop any healing process. However, if you have been over weight for a long period of time, you may have had sciatic pain in the past, exercising to lose weight may have cause you to over work or "pull" the nerve. The good news, is once you lose the weight, with moderate exercise every day, a healthy diet this can prevent further episodes. However, I would still speak to the doctor that prescribed the diet pills and have him examine your back, hip and leg to make sure. If you are exercising or running, make sure you have the right footwear, and do not "over do" it in the beginning! Good luck!

Reply to Marie's Post: I've run 7 marathons...avg. over 1200 miles per year running...last Jan.23 I did a friend a favor by advancing her bike 13 miles..it wasn't a bike for me..and I didn't adjust it as good as I could have...since that day I've had this pain..Hip MRI..X-rays,,last night a back MRi and Dr. appt. tomorrow...in just the past month I've borrowed a few of my wife's diet pills, cause I've gained 8-10 lbs by not doing anything these past 2+ months....I've had one cortisone shot and 42 steroid pills..it seems to be a weight bearing pain as I step down...

Does the pain wrap around? I would get it from the back above the butt, wrap around the thigh and then down behind my calf to my foot? If we're on the same page, I can relate! I use to ride only English for years. Blew out my hip after 30 years of riding, had hip replacment, gained 10 lbs, decided to lose the weight and started 3500 steps a day on stairmaster, so much for sciatica. Dead in the water for me. Your quesetion was would the diet pills hurt, the answer is no. They are not a real powerful drug, in fact they don't compare to what was out there in my day. However, the sciatica, once hurt, can take a long time to heal, and unless you can become paralized for a week or more, it will be an achilles tenden for you. Believe me,I know. Ice always helpe me the best, and scrip pain pills. You may have to re-adjust your balance as a gell pack in my shoe helped as well.
Your problem supports my thought, no good deed goes unpunished, sorry!!!
