Hello,
I am sorry to hear about your dad. I am afraid that I am not really going to be able to give you much information that will be specific to your father. All I can really do is quote statistics to you.
For someone with a stage IIIa tumour, depending what statistics you look at for the USA between 10% and 35% survive for more than 5 years. In Europe 13% survive for more than 5 years. ( source: http://www.emedicine.com/radio/topic807.htm )
Obviously this means that roughly a quarter of people do well but unfortunately the outlook is quite grim for the majority of people with this condition.
I would strongly recommend that you speak to the doctor concerned as he will be familiar with the statistics and will have knowldge of your dads health and illness in far more detail that I do.
But regardless of what the statistics say, and what the doctors say - the reality is this: with this condition some people live for a long time afterwards, and some people dont. No one can tell you how it is going to turn out for your father.
