Question

My doctor says that I have calcium deposits in my left ...

Sent to Health Experts June 11, 2006 9:33 p.m.

My doctor says that I have calcium deposits in my left breast, and that she will have to
keep a close watch on them. I have had a breast cancer in that same area. I took
calcium tablets 500mm per day for about six months. My question is how did I
get calcium deposits in my breast? Is there a way I can eliminate this problem? How
is it usually treated? I have noticed that my breast is tender and feels better when I
wear bra, even while sleeping. Can you help me?

Hi
First of all the calcium you took is not at all related to the deposits in the breast.

Calcium deposits in the breast can come from healing or trauma or scarring sometimes.
If you had surgery for breast cancer in that breast, the depoosit may be related to the cancer or the treatment you received.
It is very important to keep a very close eye on it. It may even be a consideration to get more advanced testing or a second opinion or a biopsy to make sure you sare not dealing with anything more serious than a simple calcium deposit.
An oncologist or an oncologic surgeon or a cancer center woulod be reasonable places to go for a second opinion.

Good luck. I hope this turns out to be nothing
