I have had pain in my right side, frontal just above ...

I have had pain in my right side, frontal just above where my hip bone is. A lady I work with said it may be my appendix and I should watch it. It has been several weeks where it ached. Today it feels like it's burning. Is this something I should get to my doctor about right away? I have heard of them rupturing and do not know much about this. Can you please help me.
