I recently went to the doctor because I thought I had strep, it turns out I don't but I might have mono. I have to wait till my fever is gone till they can test however. Yet I don't feel tired and I still have a healthy apetite, it's just my throat hurts, my head hurts and my glands are swollen. Could I really have mono, or is it just a throat infection like my mom thinks?

Optional Information:
Female , Age: 22

Already Tried:
I'm on antibiotics, hyrdrocodone, and lidocaine with lots of fluids, rest, and soft foods.

Hello,

It is very possible that you have mono due to your symptoms of fatigue, swollen lymph nodes and sore thorat. Some people have a normal appetite when they are ill, so that really isn't all that significant.

Here is some info, please let me know if you have questions.

Sorry, I thought you were tired.

It is worth being tested for mono as a precaution. If you do not begin to feel better on the antibiotics, that would be a cause for concern as that often occurs when you have mono.

Your doctor focused on mono due to your swollen lymph nodes, as this is a sign of infection that is also a symptom of mono.
