Ok this may sound strange, but i come from a culture where I have to be a virgin when I am married, so i recently got married, and so it was my first time to use a tampon today and i guess i put it in wrong, so when i tried to take it out, it was stuck on something and i felt it pulling, so I had to see what it was. An internal piece was stuck to the tampon...and i didnt know what to do. Finally I managed to remove the tampon without tearing whatever it was, and now its hanging out :-S and I dont know what it is or what to do...so please HELP!!

Hello,

Did you manage to get the tampon out and there is something hanging out of your vagina? Or is the tampon stuck and half in and half out?

Out of my vagina....I managed to get the sides of the tampon out...so basically it was all out of my vagina, but something out of my vagina was holding it...a string like thing

Ok, go into the bathroom and squat down. Bear down like you are going to have a bowel movement. Insert your fingers into your vagina with a "sweeping" motion and gently try to pull it out.

The tampon itself has a string, see if you can grab that to pull the tampon out.

well i managed to get the tampon out...I completely removed it from my vagina, and it was stuck to some internal organ or something that was string-like or more like a rubber band. This was wrapped around the tampon. So i had to cutt the tampon and slide it out from the other side...but i still have this stringy flesh hanging out of my vagina

You really need to make an appointment with a GYN for an accurate diagnosis.

How long ago did you you get married? I am thinking this may be the remnants of your hymen. Some virgins will experience this after the have had sex a few times.

On april 8 of this year. So almost 3 months ago. Do you think this could be something dangerous?

But would my hymen hurt, considering it is that, when I was trying to pull the tampon out? I mean it seemed like something was going to tear out of me.

Some women have an unusually thick hymen. To be sure, I would call your GYN tomorrow for an exam.
You could experience some discomfort.

So what do you think the solution would be? Can it be removed? Do you think if I pulled the tampon and just tore whatever it was that was attached, it would've caused damage? Sorry for all these questions, its just in my culture, we don't know much about these things

I understand, please ask as many questions as you need to for peace of mind.

The GYN will exam you and may trim the excess skin Sometimes the hymen takes a few months to totally become broken (disengaged). The tampon just happened to get wrapped around what was left.

Wow sounds painful. Can I just leave it as is, or can it be harmful?

It shouldn't hurt ar all, it could be a bit sore, but most likely you will not even notice anything.

The GYN could use a local anesthetic if he felt it appropriate. I would not let this go without seeing the doctor. Perhaps, the docotr will say just leave it alone, but it is always a good idea to have an accurate diagnosis for peace of mind.

Thank you very much...one last thing: Is the hymen attached like that internally, I mean to the extent where it can be stuck on a tampon or even pulled out?

Yes, this is possible. Some women have a very thick hymen, so much so, that it is often impossible for the penis to penetrate it. On two occasions in my nursing career, assisted the doctor in actually surgically cutting the hymen as their husbands could not penetrate it after several weeks of attempting.

Yours is no longer intact, but it appears the extra skin is just hanging and needs to be clipped.

Thank you VERY much...This really put me to ease. It just would be alot easier if we knew all these things before marriage.
