Bladder and Back Pain

Sent to Health Experts June 30 2006 at 10:05 AM

For about a week and a half, I have had bladder issues which have now lead to severe back issues. I feel the need to urinate all the time, and when I go, there is a small amount and then my bladder cramps. Since last friday, my lower back has been in severe pain. It is to the left and right of my spine and is a deep throbing. The only relief I have found is with ibprophine...but I can't take much more of it. Within the last 3 days I have also become constipated. I thought this was a UTI (again) and then possibly something to do with my period, but both of those seem out of the question. I don't know what this is, but the pain is keeping me up at night and I need to know if I should go to the Dr. The only medicine I am on is birth control and multi-vitamins.
Thank you.

If there is any sort of backpain then you need to see your doctor to rule out the possibility of a kidney infection. A urine sample can be tested for presence of protein, blood and bacteria .

I think it is very important that you increase your fluid intake to about 2 litres or 4 pints as a minimum. The constipation together with small urine volumes could indicate dehydration.

Please do go and see your family doctor.
