big toe numbness and tingle in one leg. had some doctor look at it and he did nerve test. it was alright. this does not solve problem. can it be a circulation problem from the long air flight, daughter will be oversees for a while and on numerous flights till august. she is conserned and I need to tell her what to do or if this is an immediate problem.

my daughter is in s. korea. 4 days ago her half of big toe started to get numb and now its on other toe. she went to see some korean doctor but there was language problem. he did do nerve test and it was alright. they never check toe itself. she thinks it looks a little pale purple.. she has massaged it and soaked it. can this be a circulation problem from flight or just pressure from walking. do we need to be conserned??

lefemmenikita14,

It could be just a shoe problem, but it could be circulatory or a combination of both. There is a condition called purple toe, that affects people who run and walk a lot, so this could be the problem. This would entail the toenail area turning purple-black and falling off. She would need to soak her foot in warm water. Pierce the blister with a needle after it has been soaking for a while and press gently on the toenail to extract as much blood as possible. She may need to repeat this a few times over the next week or so. If this is the case she would also need to make sure she keeps her nails trimmed short.
