There is a swelling the size of a peanut shell at the opening of my rectum. There is a little whit dot and it looks red and fleshy. It is irritating.

This could be as simple as an ingrown hair. It is also possible it could be an abcess and is something that needs lanced and drained by your doctor. (Both based on the 'white dot' you mentioned.) You could try a warm compress to the area to see if it will drain, otherwise it would be advisable to have your doctor look at it to determine a treament. Your treatment as a hemorrhoid initially was certainly reasonable.
