I have a good friend at work who has been vomiting within a half hour or an hour of eating. It happened a few weeks ago and he thought it was what he just ate for lunch. Today i walked in the bathroom and he was throwing up again. He is seemingly healthy and only 23 years old, but I asked him today how long this has been going on. He said a couple of months. I said do you have an ulcer or something? I asked him again why he wasn't getting checked out . He said it will go away. I made a call to a good friend of his who suggested he see a doctor because this is happening almost daily. Any thoughts on what is causing this/

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy),

He absolutely should see a doctor. I just "chatted" with another customer about the same problem....I will share the same information with you.

Continuous nausea and vomiting is secondary to a variety of things such as a peptic ulcer like you mentioned, or esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus), gall stones, pancreatitis, or possibly a small bowel obstruction....all are potentially serious and possibly life threatening if not treated.

Whatever the cause, your friend NEEDS to see his doctor to diagnose the problem. He is at risk for dehydration and electrolyte imbalance which could cause further/serious damage. In the meantime, have him try to take in as much fluid as tolerated. Gatorade and water will help restore his electrolytes.
